How to Heal a Heavy Heart

Many incidents happen everyday in life.some incidents gives us happiness and joy while some other gives sorrow, stress or grief.

Losing a loved one, bad fight with a dear friend, being predicted with an incurable disease and many other unpleasant incidents in life are bound to happen to anyone.Some unfortunate situations cannot be undone once it occurs. These kind of situations makes your heart hold on to the feeling of sorrow or stress or grief or guilt and the heart starts feeling heavy.

Though you know you can’t do anything about the loss it feels like your heart never gets consoled. Holding a heavy heart leads one into depression which ruins his or her happiness.

Remember there is no burden harder to carry than a heavy heart

Share it with a friend or write it down in a piece of paper : if you have a friend who listens to you then talk to your friend how you feel about it otherwise write down your feelings in a piece of paper. Sharing or writing down makes your heart throw out what and how it feels and makes it much lighter than before.

Try to forget and focus on the present: As the saying goes “Idle mind is devils workshop”. Dont let yourself to get immersed in the feeling of sorrow by being idle. Be active. Do what is required for the present and future. This will make your heart to forget the past as your mind and soul will be engaged with activity that makes you a better person.

Give Time some Time to heal :  Even when you lose something close to your heart, the feeling of sorrow will be high for first few days and gradually your heart starts to heal..After one or two years the intensity of your sorrow will be much less..Every scar in heart heals with time. Give time some time to heal your heart and forget the past.

A Girl’s Stubborn Attire

A girl developed stripes like marks on her skin during her adolescent age.Those are the stretch marks that happen as part of growth in some children.

When she grew up, she found herself ugly because of the marks that were on her skin.She was having stretch marks on her hip, abdomen, back of her shoulder and almost everywhere on her body.

She tried every cream and oil that was available in the market to get rid of her stretch marks.Her marks were stubborn that it never wanted to go off from her skin.

The girl then learned to live with her stretch  marks and stopped finding ways to get rid off it.Though she learned to live with it, she was ashamed to show her marks to the world so she always dressed in such a way her dress doesn’t reveal her marks.

she knew that someday her stretch marks will be noticed by the guy whom she would marry.she feared of that day because she thought she will be taunted for having such marks. She was miserable thinking she would be hated for the marks on her skin

One day she found the love of her life.With so much fear and hesitation ,She showed him the ugly marks on her skin and said him how bad she feels for having them on her skin. To her surprise her man kissed her striped skin and said they are beautiful on you. I love you the way you are.

It is then she realized even the marks on her skin had a reason for its existence. It is her stretch marks which showed how sincere was her partners love for her. She embraced her stretch marks only when her partner embraced the flaw in her skin.

Sometimes we stress about things which are not in our control and make life miserable for ourselves and for others. How many of us truely embrace the flaws in our partner?

Stop craving for love

Sometimes we end up falling in love with someone who is not meant for us. Though your brain tells that he or she is not meant for you, your mind will never listens, You feel like you can’t let that person go off your mind and will become desperate for love and attention. This Craving for love from someone who is not interested in you is not good for yourself and for the other person too. You are wasting your time and draining your energy for a person who is not worth for it. The other person also may feel annoyed because of your desperation for attention from him or her. This can be overcome by practicing self-love. Here are ways to develop self-love

Count on your positives and be thankful for it : Each of us have positive and negative qualities in us. List down only positive things you have got in life leaving behind the negative. You might be good person by heart willing to help others in need, you might be a great friend for your friend, you might be good in math or singing, you might be blessed with a supportive family, you might be having a loving brother or sister who is there for you to listen to you. Think of all the positives in you and be thankful for it.

Spend Time on your Hobbies :  Spending more time on your hobbies like reading, writing, swimming or any other activity of your interest will make you engaged in doing what you love ,will deviate your mind from unnecessary thoughts and helps you develop your inner talent. Have one if you don’t have any hobby.

Take Good Care of yourself : Stay healthy by having good diet and doing exercise everyday.Sleep at-least 8 hours a day and do exercises like walking , running, swimming or yoga everyday.You will have a great peace of mind if you are fit and healthy.

Focus on your Dream : Have a dream to achieve something big in life. Let your dream become the thing which your heart craves for, Plan short-term goals to achieve your long-term dream. Work towards accomplishing your goals. If you fail in accomplishing your goal , work in different ways and find out which way works out the goal. By achieving your goals you will live your dream one day which will make you more attractive than ever before.

Ways to have work life balance

In today’s world, where technology like smart phones and tablets connects employees and employers easily, the balance in work and life  has become almost impossible for most of the people. Most people get stressed because they do office work at home and think about home at office because they face shortage of time at both workplace and home. Here are simple tips that will help improve your work life balance.

Identify the necessities in Life : First step to achieve work life balance is to identify what you really need in life and communicate clearly with your boss or family. In case if you feel you want to go back home early everyday so that you can spend more time with your children, speak to your boss and adjust your work hours accordingly. You can tell your boss you will be more productive at work if he allows you to come to office early and leave early before the traffic of peak hours builds up in the city. Similarly you can talk to your spouse and make sure that he or she spends time with the children in the morning and leaves office little late so that one can take care when the other parent is away. In case if you think working from home for 2 or 3 days in a week then communicate the same with the boss in a more acceptable way. if your boss agrees well and good , if he doesn’t agree don’t get stressed over it , instead find an alternative like switching your job to a workplace where the policies are more flexible.

Set up Boundaries : Clearly distinguish between your work time and personal time. Don’t keep reading mails from your phone when you are on dining table. Don’t pick up calls if your boss or colleague calls you when you are spending time with your family. clearly tell you colleagues that you will not be available to even attend calls during particular hours of the day.

Learn to Say No : when you think that you are given an extra work like arranging a party for a farewell or asked to give a training to the junior employee when you are loaded with lot of work already , then clearly tell your colleague that you will not be able to the extra work as you have got time only to do the work that is already assigned, may be you can plan for it for the next day without stretching your work for longer hours on any day.

Follow a daily routine : some professionals like marketing executives might have to do some report work from home. Such people should have a dedicated time in a day to complete the work so that you don’t get piled up with lots of work at the end of the week or month. Wake up and go to bed at same time everyday so you get adopted to a particular schedule for everyday activity and finish off the work on time. This will make you feel good that you have nothing pending and relaxes your mind before you go to sleep.
